Costa Rica 2012, a morning Bloody Mary was in dire need. Bartender brings me a shot glass and says "Mae, Chili Guaro is what you need!" A mix of fresh chili peppers, tomatoes and limes with their local Guaro, a sugar distilled clear alcohol.
This shot made total sense, get straight to the point! It was refreshing and just the jolt I needed to get back into the game. Fast Forward 6 years and here we are brining the country our own rendition of the famous shot in Ricante style! Thanks to an amazing recipe direct from my Tica wife, this simple Costa Rician favorite can now be shared with all our friends around the world.
Gringos call it a Bloody Mary; Costa Ricans call it a Chili Guaro;
Ricante says CHILI GUARO MIXTO, AKA BLOODY MARY MIX.
